Compton Suppressed Gamma Spectrometry for activation analysis of materials irradiated at JET

چکیده

Compton Suppressed Spectrometry (CSS) provides a method to improve the peak-to-background ratio, and consequently counting statistics limit of detection. The NCSRD Fusion Technology Group CSS system consists NaI detector coupled 40% HPGe. an annulus, surrounding HPGe, plug, which can be removed for sample positioning, offering 4π detection geometry. signal processing chain configuration allows simultaneous collection both suppressed unsuppressed spectra. spectra analyst use optimum spectrum, depending on radionuclide determined. In this work, performance in analysis dosimetry foils different material samples irradiated at Joint European Torus (JET) during 2019 DD campaign is presented. continuum was significantly reduced providing better peak identification peaks non-cascade nuclides. developed methodology will applied study activation characteristics materials used ITER components manufacturing, after irradiation significant 14 MeV neutron yield JET DT campaign.

A Compton-Suppressed Phoswich Detector for Gamma Spectroscopy

A phoswich detector with two scintillation layers has been designed and assembled at Oregon State University. This detector is able to identify and reject Compton events and ultimately reduce the Compton continuum in gamma energy spectra. In this detector, CsI(Tl) crystal is used to primarily detect photoelectric events. The CsI(Tl) crystal is partially surrounded by a BGO crystal layer to capt...

Producing 65Zn and 60Co gamma sources for energy and efficiency calibration of gamma spectrometry systems

Precise calibration of energy and efficiency of gamma spectrometry systems for different geometries is very important. In most cases, preparation of these sources for educational and research centers  is very difficult due to high costs and lack of access to the reactor. The purpose of this paper is to explain the procedure for production of calibration sources 65Zn and 60Co using instrumental ...
